Lycanthrope Club Vignette 1
It was well past midnight in the forest. The air was very cold and still. Soft, mist-like rain drifted down from the starless sky to the earth. Every so often the clouds would part, revealing the moon, full and waxen. Faint pale light would filter down through the haze tracing the forest in a ghostly outline. Inevitably, the break in the clouds would close, leaving the ground as black as the sky above.
A solitary form was moving through the gloom. Though nearly the size and shape of a bear it moved nothing like one. Swift and agile, it wove effortless

Jason Blaid was considered by just about everybody at school to be the ultimate wimp. He was a short, skinny boy, pale and scrawny. He had pale blue eyes which were partially obscured by his wire-rimmed glasses, which were much too large for his face. He was not built for much physical activity and, therefore, didn't participate in any sports. But he was pretty smart. He had one of the highest reading levels at his school and a much broader vocabulary than his whole English class combined. For this, and his shy and reserved nature, he was teased and bullied constantly.
